Facebook lite login or sign up: What do you miss if you use Facebook Lite?
Facebook Lite, the application that takes less than 1 MB of the popular social network came to Spain a little over a month ago. Facebook lite login or sign up is intended for emerging markets. It has been designed with slow connections in mind, so it could be useful if you have a poor mobile or too restrictive data rate.
Minimalist and reduced interface
As you can see, the interface of both applications has quite remarkable differences. One of them is the very layout of the sections at the top of the screen. As you can see not only the icons in the Lite version are inserted in the blue bar. But the search bar disappears and becomes a section plus.
On the left you can also see how the complete application on Facebook shows us the images that our contacts share in a very visible size. While to the right, you will see that the Lite version reduces them so they do not take so long to load. We will have to press on them if we want to see them with a decent size.
There are also some changes to the like and comment icons. They are much more minimalist in the Lite version. Also, the signage disappears in text of the likes and the number of comments. The Facebook Lite interface seems to have come from the past in a time machine. The differences are remarkable.
Performance is the biggest difference
There are many aspects of the design of Facebook Lite that people like. But, all the desire we could have to use it instead of the complete application was passed as soon as we started using it for a while. And the biggest differences between the two will not find them both in design and performance.
Firstly, the app has a poor fluidity when it comes to scrolling on our timeline. Something really annoying, but that was to be expected given the less space it occupies. In addition, Lite will load very few messages in the timeline. So if we want to review all our current we will have to go loading new messages.
And in fact, that’s where we will find another of its biggest and most annoying drawbacks. The loading times. The load times in the application transitions are huge, either to open a small image to access a new page in the timeline or visit the profile of one of our contacts.
Facebook lite login or sign up
In conclusion, if you use Facebook Lite you lose all the fluency and good behavior that the main application of the social network offers us. In addition, you will have to face long loading times and want to see a photo or upload a video. Something that convinces in a virtually unusable application unless you have no choice but to resort to it.
And it is a pity, because as we have mentioned the design is minimalist. At least on a personal basis we do not find it unpleasant. Also in Facebook Lite you can use Facebook chat without the application forcing you to install Messenger, a possibility that a server misses a lot in the main application.
